Health & Safety

Our school is committed to high standards of safety and cleanliness as we create a caring and nurturing environment where children can thrive.

Requiring any children or staff with respiratory illness symptoms or fever to return home and stay home until fever free for at least 24 hours
Frequent disinfecting and sanitizing of high-touch toys
Frequent handwashing by children and staff, which is embedded in our curriculum and daily staff protocols
Training teachers on common signs of illness in children, and placing signage in every classroom to keep signs of illness top of mind
Daily laundering of crib sheets for infants; for older children, individual cots and blankets are provided for each child and laundered weekly
Ensuring appropriate teacher-student classroom ratios
Continuous health & safety training for our staff, including first aid and CPR certification
Maintaining an up-to-date and customized Safe School Plan posted in all classrooms for easy teacher access

Circle Time

Today during Circle Time, our Preschool class engaged in a review of the parts of a plant. We looked at pictures and a real plant to observe and identify each part, including the roots, stem, leaves, and flowers. We also discussed what each part does, such as how roots take in water, stems help support the plant, and leaves use sunlight to help the plant grow. The children learned that plants need water, sunlight, and soil to live and grow, and we talked about how we can help care for plants by watering them and making sure they get enough sun.

Harmony and Hearts

This morning during Harmony and Hearts music class. Our Early Preschool teachers guided the children to move their bodies along straight and curvy paths as they dance to the music, encouraging them to notice how their movements change with each shape.

Mucho Mundo

CUIDAR LA NATURALEZA (TAKING CARE OF NATURE) Today during Preschool’s Mucho Mundo lesson, we talked about ways to take care of nature (cuidar la naturaleza). One important way we can help is by picking up litter — recoger basura. Keeping our environment clean helps protect plants, animals (animales salvajes), and our community.

Small Group Math

During Small Group Math, we supported the children as they practice shopping with nickels and pennies, helping them build early money recognition and counting skills. Shoppers: When you purchase something, you will go to the storekeeper and pay for it. The storekeeper will put it in your bag. You may continue shopping and bring more items to the storekeeper to purchase. Storekeepers: When a shopper brings you an item to purchase, you will take the money, make change if appropriate, and place the item in the shopping bag.”

Thumps Up! Outside

During Thumbs Up!, we encourage the children to practice persistence as they explore how to kick a ball with control.

Project Time

During Preschool Project Time, we guide the children in understanding how fresh water helps plants grow, especially fruits and vegetables. The children explore this idea by helping water the plants in our Primrose Patch, learning how plants need water to stay healthy and grow strong. 🌱💧 Through this hands-on experience, the children observe how caring for plants helps them grow, while also learning about responsibility and the importance of taking care of nature. 🍅🥕🌼

Circle Time

Today our Preschool teachers invited the children to gather together and begin by asking open-ended questions such as, “Have you ever recycled at home?” or “What kinds of things can we recycle?” Encourage each child to share their experiences, whether it’s putting paper in a recycling bin, reusing materials for art projects, or seeing recycling trucks in their neighborhood. we closed the discussion by empowering the children: “Every time we recycle, we are helping take care of our planet. We are Earth helpers!” 🌎

Project Time

During Project Time in Preschool, we guided the children to discuss the different ways we use rocks. We talk about how rocks are used to build houses, roads, and buildings. The children share their ideas and make connections to things they see every day, like sidewalks, playgrounds, and even the rocks in our garden areas. We also explore how rocks can be used for decoration, making art, and even jewelry. The children enjoy touching and observing different types of rocks, describing their size, color, texture, and weight. Through discussion and hands-on exploration, they begin to understand how rocks are an important natural resource that we use in many ways!

Project Time

Today during Project Time, our Preschool class listened to the story Land and Water by Chris Siegel. The children learned that air, land, and water are all around us! We had a great discussion about air and how it is everywhere—even in our classroom! The children shared their observations about how the air inside felt today. Was it cool? Warm? Still? We also talked about how the air outside felt today. Was it chilly, windy, warm, or fresh? Finally, the children thought like scientists by making careful observations and recording their findings. We love seeing them explore the world around them with curiosity and excitement!

Small Group Math

During Small Group Math, our Preschool students were invited to create a pattern for a Primrose Friend of their choice! Children selected their favorite Primrose Friend and used colors, shapes, and different materials to design and extend patterns. As they worked, students practiced recognizing, creating, and repeating patterns (AB, AAB, ABC), strengthening their early math skills and critical thinking. This activity also encouraged creativity, problem-solving, and fine motor development as they carefully placed each piece to complete their design. We love seeing our students combine imagination with learning! 🌟

Project Time

During Project Time, the children explored creating shadow art by taking turns shining a flashlight on objects and using crayons to trace the shapes of the shadows they observed. This hands-on activity encouraged creativity while helping children develop an understanding of light, shapes, and cause-and-effect through active exploration.

Small Group Math

Today during Small Group Math, our Preschool students went on a fun “Shopping Exploration”! 🛒 With guidance from their teachers, the children pretended to shop while gathering a specific number of items. Through this hands-on activity, they explored counting, number recognition, and began understanding how numbers and currency are part of everyday shopping experiences.

For Small Group Literacy We Support the children to practice reciting the poem, “Silly Sounds” and invite them to think of a word that rhymes with “do”.

During Thumbs Up, teachers guide and support the children as they work on catching a ball with control, helping to strengthen their coordination and overall physical development.

Weather Effects

Effects of Weather on People, Plants, and Animals Today our Preschool classes discussed how weather affects people, plants, and animals. We used a watering can to model light rain and heavy rain. The light rain showed how gentle rainfall can help plants grow by giving them just the right amount of water. The heavy rain demonstrated how too much water can flood the soil, wash away seeds, or make it hard for some animals to find shelter. We also talked about how people are affected by different kinds of weather — for example, needing umbrellas or raincoats in the rain, or staying indoors during storms. Animals might look for dry places to hide, and plants need the right balance of sunlight and water to stay healthy. This activity helped us understand that weather has a big impact on all living things and that balance in nature is very important.

Small Group Math

Small Group Math was full of hands-on fun today! Our preschool students used blocks and toy animals to explore measurement. They practiced using measuring tools and everyday objects to compare and measure the height of their creations. It was a great way to build early math skills through play and discovery!

Small Group Literacy

During Small Group Literacy, our Preschool students explored letters through our food drive collection! We guided the children to look through the donation box and notice whether any items represented each letter of the alphabet. After observing and discussing the items, the children were invited to draw and label a food item to contribute to our class Food Alphabet Book.

Polar Express Reading

🚂 All aboard the Polar Express 🎅🏼 Ms. Lori read the book "The Polar Express" while we enjoyed "hot chocolate" and a cookie in our pj's.🍪 🍫 🥛

Project Time

During Project Time, our Preschool class conducted an experiment to observe what happens when an ice cube is left in a cup at room temperature. The children watched closely as the ice slowly melted, learning about temperature, change, and the properties of water through hands-on exploration.🧊🔍

Today for Project Time our Preschool students learned about each part of the plant. They discussed what partes helps it eat, grow, and breathe. Finally they were asked to label the various parts of a flower. 🌹🌷🪻

Small Group Literacy

Today during small group literacy time, the children participated in a hands-on matching game designed to help them recognize the letters in their names. Each child was given a set of letters and asked to find and match the letters that make up their name. This engaging activity helped reinforce letter identification, name recognition, and early literacy skills in a playful and supportive setting. The children showed excitement as they searched for familiar letters and took pride in completing their name puzzles. Activities like this help build a strong foundation for reading and writing by connecting meaningful content (their own names!) to key literacy concepts.

Today during Circle Time, we introduced a variety of vegetables to help children explore and identify the different parts of plants.
