Executive Director

My Early Childhood Education field journey began in 2003 when I moved to the Central Valley and started taking child development classes at San Joaquin Valley College. It was evident to me then that I had a passion and knack for being a Prekindergarten Teacher. I worked for KinderCare Corporation as a Lead Pre-k Teacher for a year and was quickly promoted to Assistant Director, and then Director. Since my child was now older and independent, I was eligible to move from center to center to fulfill any management needs corporate had for me, and that is where I really found my footing as a Leader in child care.

After 5 years as a Director of over 6 Kindercare locations, I was introduced to Sima Shah who was looking for a new Director at her upcoming Cupertino School. I was ultimately hired in June of 2019 to take over the Willow Glen location, and it was truly the best decision I have ever made in my career. Between the high-quality standards of curriculum to the amazing school atmosphere of Primrose, I knew this was going to be my long-term home.

These standards I mentioned must be followed in order to create the best possible experience for the students and families that we serve. The curriculum philosophy, school policies, and staff trainings convinced me that there truly is not a better preschool out there than Primrose.

I feel truly blessed that I will be overseeing both locations in the near future, and that the long-lasting connections and relationships that were created with the families and staff will continue to grow.

My Favorite Part about Primrose

My favorite part about Primrose is the smiling faces I get to see each and every morning! Even if you are having a hard day, coming to work and knowing that there are children who look forward to seeing you, hugging you, and high-fiving you is the best feeling in the world. It is wonderful to know that the teachers work extremely hard in making each child feel safe, confident, and comfortable while their family members are away. It takes a village to raise a child, and being part of that village is rewarding in a way that you cannot put into words.

Mylynh H.
Mylynh H.
Director of Business Operations

I started my Early Childhood Education journey in 2006 when I moved to San Francisco and attended City College of San Francisco. I was sort of lost, taking general education courses and I stumbled upon a child developmental class that really kept my interest. From that class on, I continued to take more child developmental courses, started my first teaching career that year, and eventually got my teaching certification in Early Childhood Development. I’ve always loved being around children, I wanted to change my cousin’s diapers when I was 5 years old!  When I was 9 years old, I filled out what I wanted to be when I grew up a questionnaire and sealed it shut, and opened it 11 years later. Coincidently enough, it said “Teacher” and I knew that I was going in the direction I was meant for. I then worked for Little Flowers Montessori as a Teacher for a long time, but I reached a plateau, expressed that I wanted more responsibility and growth in my career, and luckily, was given the chance to become a Director and was proven to be a great asset and with them for 5 years. Since then I have also been a previous Director at Bright Horizons. Seeing and experiencing children’s development is a fulfilling thing.

I took a small break from childcare and when I found Primrose, it was evident that I missed being around children so much. They make my day and warm up my heart with each waving child and hug. As a Leadership at Primrose, I’m happy to experience such hard-working teachers and teamwork to continue to keep the children safe, while having fun along with child development and education. I am blessed to be a part of the Primrose School of Cupertino and hopefully grow with this wonderful company.

Some fun facts about me are that I love to travel, go hiking, have nature adventures, enjoy eating UBE anything, and go to the spa of course for some relaxation.

Leadership Support

Hello, my name is Kelly S.

I grew up in the beautiful Bay Area, near Santa Cruz, CA, where the ocean and mountains have always held a special place in my heart. When I’m not working in a preschool, you can find me walking on the beach or hiking in the mountains.

I studied Early Childhood Education and began working in preschools in my early 20s—and I’ve never looked back! When it was time to raise my family, I settled in Willow Glen, where I lived for nearly 30 years. I feel so fortunate to have built a strong community here, one that I still maintain today. Willow Glen will always hold a special place in my heart.

After teaching primarily Pre-K throughout my career, I’m thrilled to now be a part of the incredible team here at Primrose. In my role, I offer additional support to both parents and children whenever needed. We at Primrose are here to ensure that your family has the best experience possible, and we want you to know that we are always available for any questions, comments, or concerns you may have.

I truly enjoy meeting and working with young families. I hope that my years of experience in early childhood education and raising my own family can be helpful to you. It would be my honor to support you in any way I can.

Radhika B.
Radhika B.
Billing Coordinator

Hello, I’m Radhika. A little about myself –

I am originally from India and moved to the Bay Area in 2012. I am a mother of two boys. After my first kid was born, I decided to dedicate my time to raising my kids and became a stay-at-home mother. For the last 3 years, I started to focus on my career.

I like thinking and working on things that I am passionate about.

I enjoy working with kids in their foundational years. Their curiosity to learn always amazes me and my goal is to support them in this journey. They are completely innocent and need only love and care. The only negative part is that they grow up so fast. Tell them to slow down!  =)
In my free time, I enjoy cooking, embroidery, and spending my time with my kids.  🙂 .
I am very fortunate I found Primrose, and I like to come to work every day. The leadership team and teachers are very supportive and helpful. I was an Early Preschool classroom teacher for 9 months in our Primrose Cupertino and now have evolved into the billing coordinator for Willowglen and Cupertino, which I am now enjoying!

I’m very excited to be a part of the Primrose community! I have been working with children for 10 years. I lived in Union City until I was 6 years old and then we moved to the Central Valley. I grew up in a little town called Lathrop and now I am back in the Bay Area since 2017. My name is Rakhi, and I’d like to share a little about myself. Originally from India, I moved to the Bay Area in 2019. I am a mother of two daughters, aged 13 and 8. Prior to becoming a full-time mom, I worked in a bank, but after my second daughter was born, I decided to leave my banking career and focus on raising my children. I find great satisfaction in watching children grow and learn. In my spare time, I enjoy cooking and spending quality time with my family and friends.

I currently live in Cupertino, CA, and hold a Bachelor of Education as well as a Master’s in Statistics. Additionally, I completed my Early Childhood Education (ECE) units at De Anza College. My favorite food is Rajma Rice, a comforting dish made with rice and kidney beans. On weekends, I love to relax by watching TV, going hiking, or visiting the beach. I am fluent in Hindi and English.

One of my favorite children’s books is The Three Little Pigs. As for this school year, I am excited to be a part of the children’s growth and development. Children are truly amazing, and it brings me joy to witness their achievements and milestones. As a childcare provider, I understand the importance of my role, and I am eager to contribute to this rewarding journey.

“Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.”
This quote has guided me throughout my career, and it reflects how I approach every opportunity with passion and purpose. My name is Diana R and I’ve always felt called to work with children—whether through volunteering or in professional settings.

In middle school, I volunteered at my local Boys & Girls Club and YMCA, which deepened my love for working with kids. During my senior year of high school, I became an ABA therapist for a year—an experience that taught me so much about child development, behavior, and the importance of individualized care. It confirmed what I already knew: working with young children is the path I was meant to follow.

I believe that my impact on this world will be through helping children learn, grow, and develop into confident, kind, and curious individuals.

I was raised in San Jose, California and one of my favorite things about working with children is experiencing their pure, contagious happiness—it brings so much joy to each day. Growing up, my favorite books were The Berenstain Bears collection—I had them all and loved reading them over and over. My favorite holiday is Christmas because of the cozy atmosphere and the sense of love and togetherness that fills the air.

Cultural traditions are an important part of my life. My family takes great pride in our Native American roots as members of the Muwekma Ohlone Tribe. One of our most cherished family traditions is celebrating birthdays. I come from a large family with 19 siblings, including myself, and we go all out to make each birthday feel extra special.

In my personal time, I enjoy being in nature—especially exploring rivers and occasionally going for a swim in places like Santa Cruz, Monterey, or Los Gatos. I also love traveling and seek out opportunities to visit new places, whether it’s by train or plane. Music is another big part of my life. My taste is broad, and I’m always open to new sounds—I never turn down a song request!

Hello! My name is Maria Yepez, and I’m thrilled to be your child’s preschool teacher this year. I’ve been working with young children for the past three years, and I’m currently close to completing my bachelor’s degree in Child Development.

One of the things I love most about teaching is seeing children learn, grow, and express themselves through play. In our classroom, I focus on nurturing kindness, creativity, and curiosity. I believe learning should be both fun and meaningful, so I incorporate plenty of hands-on exploration and play throughout the day.

Outside of the classroom, I enjoy staying active, spending time outdoors, and connecting with friends and family. I’m also a big fan of sushi and seafood boils!

I’m so excited to be a part of your child’s early learning journey and can’t wait for all the wonderful experiences we’ll share this year.

Hello!
My name is Kasandra Flores, and I’m a college student from San Jose, CA with a strong passion for working with children. Over the past year, I’ve had the rewarding opportunity to support and engage with kids, and it’s been an incredibly fulfilling experience. I truly enjoy helping children feel confident, supported, and excited to learn.

I strive to create a safe, nurturing, and fun environment where every child feels seen, heard, and valued. I bring patience, creativity, and kindness to each interaction—whether we’re exploring new activities, learning together, or simply talking and connecting.

Through my experience, I’ve come to deeply appreciate the importance of trust, communication, and encouragement in helping children thrive. I am reliable, respectful, and fully committed to making a positive impact in every child’s life.

In my free time, I enjoy coloring—it’s a relaxing and creative outlet that helps me recharge. I’m excited to continue growing in this field with Primrose and look forward to contributing to a team that prioritizes children and their families.

Franchise Owner

Sima Shah

Meet Sima Shah, proud Owner of Primrose School of Willow Glen, Cupertino, Almaden and Milpitas. As a longtime resident of California’s Silicon Valley, she is excited to help introduce San Francisco Bay Area parents to the premier child care and early education experience Primrose has provided to many other children around the country.

Research-based and Innovative Education is Sima’s passion. She earned a Master’s Degree in Computer Science from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles after immigrating to the U.S. with her husband Amar Chokhawala. Sima worked as a computer engineer while also molding young minds as an adjunct professor of at several local colleges and universities in the Computer Science Department. Amar was an early Google employee before he founded his own software company, Reflektion in 2013, where he will continue serving as Chief Executive Officer.

When their first daughter, Amiya, was born in 2005, Sima struggled to find trusted and high-quality care, and eventually decided to keep her daughter at home with a full-time nanny. After the birth of her second daughter, Risa, in 2008, Sima decided to enroll Amiya into a Bay Area preschool. Not long after, Sima found the program lacked the holistic approach she’d hoped to find. It focused too much on structure and teacher-guided activities and did not provide enough opportunities for play and exploration. As a result, Sima tried to create her own “balanced program” by sending her daughter to a structured school three days a week, and a child-initiated play-based program for the other two days.

It was during this time Sima and her husband first learned about Primrose Schools through an advertisement in the Wall Street Journal; however, there were not any Primrose schools in California at the time.

“I knew that children needed both exploration and structure, and I kept thinking that someone had to already have a program that is more balanced. When I found Primrose, I was so pleased to see that they built their entire curriculum around this idea of balance,” said Sima. “Never having experienced it myself, I was skeptical until I flew out to Colorado to visit my first Primrose school. The moment I entered the school, I was wowed by the entire experience: people, culture, approach, environment, and curriculum.

At Primrose School of Cupertino, Sima will strive to provide a nurturing atmosphere and environment that fosters all aspects of their student’s development. Her goal is to promote the social-emotional aspect of growth, which enhances learning for children. She wants parents to feel welcome and confident that Primrose is the best option for their children.

“In today’s world, if both parents work, a child spends at least 40 hours a week at her education facility. We always think of making our homes inspiring and comfortable for our children. At Primrose School of Cupertino, we want the same for our students. Our facility will be filled with the same quality of care, attention, and comfort children experience at home,” said Sima.

Primrose School of Cupertino will feature the exclusive Balanced Learning® approach which blends purposeful play with nurturing guidance from teachers to encourage curiosity, creativity, confidence, and compassion.
