Our Pre-Kindergarten Classroom
Primrose® introduces and reinforces new information through playful exploration, teacher-guided inquiry and rich discussion as they help foster Active Minds, Healthy Bodies, and Happy Hearts®. Your child will have fun every day as they play and learn important academic skills, social skills and more, because when they are mentally, physically and emotionally ready to learn a skill, they develop mastery.
Nurturing Active Minds, Healthy Bodies, and Happy Hearts

Our Pre-Kindergarten Classroom Teachers & Staff

Michele Durkee
I’m Michele & I wanted to tell you a little about myself!
Hello my name is Michele Durkee and I live in Media PA. I have three children and have been married for 15 years. I have baby sat when I was younger and previously worked in a school district as a para professional and was the site director for the before and after care program.
On the weekends you can find me at my other job or spending time with my family. My favorite children’s book is The Kissing Hand by Audrey Penn.
I feel like the Primrose friend I relate most to is Percy, just like Percy I have a big and caring heart and I am always up to trying new things whether it be food, adventure, or learning. I stand up for what’s right and want everyone to shine.
I am most excited to learn about our students and their families and help them grow.

Nino Pizarro
My name is Ninoschka Pizarro but you can call me Ms. Nino. I was born in San Juan Puerto Rico & moved to Pennsylvania when I was four years old. I have been working with children for about eight years. I have always enjoyed the early childhood education field because I get to play an enormous role in the early stages of a child’s life. I have an Early Childhood Education Associates Degree.
My favorite food is rice and pigeon peas with pork shoulder, but if I could have one last thing to eat, it would be cheesecake. My favorite weekend activity is laying on the couch with my dog and watching movies. My favorite children’s book is “Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons”. The Primrose character I relate to the most is Billy the Duck. I am a big person of keeping my word, when I promise something I follow through. Billy also enjoys a good tune and sings along which I love to do. I find myself humming and creating new songs in the classroom and singing along to fun songs with my friends.
For this year, I am most excited about meeting new people & building relationships with them. And most importantly, making a difference in a child’s life.

Jennifer Schiller
Hi, My name is Jennifer Schiller, I have recently moved to Delaware from Maryland to be closer to my children. Before the move I worked for 19 years at a private school in Maryland as the Assistant Director of Admissions. I have missed having a class of my own and look forward to the new school year. On weekends I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, and watching movies.
I have a masters in Early Childhood Education and have over 25 years of experience working in schools.
The Primrose Pal I relate most to is Katie since we both love to socialize and learn more about our friends!
I am very excited for this year!

Carla Johnson
Hello! My name is Ms. Carla Johnson and I am one of the teachers in our Preschool Classroom! I graduated from Cheyney University with a B.S. in Elementary Education.
Before becoming employed at Primrose, I worked for Krapfs Brother’s and Sons as a Bus Monitor. I have also worked with children for more then ten years, and I currently teach Children’s Sunday School at the first Baptist Church of Passtown.
When I am not playing with the little ones in my classroom, I love to sing! I am so excited to join the Primrose staff, and look forward to working with your children.

Alexia Gramlick
“Hello everyone! My name is Alexia Gramlick, or better known as Ms. Lexi to our young friends. My hometown is Prospect Park, but I currently reside in Ridley, Pa. I have recently finished my bachelors degree in Criminology & Criminal Justice with a minor in Psychology, and am currently pursuing my masters degree. My child care experience includes the many families I have babysat for as well as taking care of my two younger sisters. My favorite food is chicken nachos and I spend my weekends with my family or at the bookstore! My favorite children’s book is The Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister, as that was a childhood favorite of mine.
Out of all the Primrose friends, I relate most to Og the Bookworm! Og loves books almost as much as I do, and he symbolizes what it means to be a caring individual. I believe it is important to care for not only yourself, but the others around you so we can all be happy together! This school year I am very excited to get to know each and every young friend in the classroom and help them grow intellectually, socially, and morally.”

Christine Durham
Hi! I’m Christine Durham, mom, step-mom, foster-mom and grandmom. I’ve been married for 22 years, I’ve been a nanny, preschool teacher and kindergarten teacher. When I’m not at Primrose, I teach fitness classes, I love to dance, bike, sew and play the piano. I belong on the beach and don’t like anything about the winter seasons!
Like our Primrose Friend, Percy, my patience lends me to be a natural leader with a passion to help shape children. My creativity allows for fun to be found in the learning which I feel is important at any age.
I enjoy kids books that are silly and rhyme. Books with life learning messages are often found in my library. A few of my favorites are “Stuck,” “Pizza Hat,” and “Darn Squirrels.” Of course, Dr Suess needs to be mentioned “Do you like my Hat?” I eat plant-based 90% of the time. I’ve never been known to deny cake or chocolate! I’m so happy to be here at Primrose & excited for the new school year!
